The Addams Family on stage with primary school audienceWednesday was a pause for most students with the Inset Day – although not all, as the French Exchange is in Grenoble, a large number of Year 9 students were in school undertaking expedition training for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, other students were taking the Intermediate Maths Challenge and it was, of course, the first night of our school production of The Addams Family. For staff it was a busy day in school planning, preparing and developing the curriculum, considering strategies to support exam classes and undertaking training across a range of areas. It is always an important day at the mid-point in the academic year and it now sets things up well for the second half of the year.

Even with one day of Inset it has been a typically busy week in school with lots of fixtures, trips to the theatre and concerts and visits from students from our local Primary Schools. And, of course, The Addams Family. A huge number of people have spent months preparing a wonderful show and this week – including today and tomorrow – we sit back and enjoy the fruits of their hard work. A huge well done to all those involved both on stage and behind the scenes and a particular thankyou to all of our staff who have made it possible.
