Last week ended with our Year 13 Leavers’ Celebration Day on Friday afternoon which was a fitting way to mark the end of the year group’s time at Wallingford School. There was lots of fancy dress, the customary bouncy castle and a lovely final assembly with awards and the usual “performance” from the Sixth Form team – it was a great send-off as they head towards their exams with the Leavers’ Ball to follow at the end of June. They have been a superb year group who have brought a huge amount to Wallingford School and when we finally say goodbye after August’s Results Day we will miss them.
In a shorter week in school, a real highlight has been a visit from award-winning children’s author Nathanael Lessore on Thursday to present to all of Year 8. His talk was fascinating and covered everything from the fundamental structure of a narrative to forming engaging descriptions to the joy of reading and included references to football, Dave the rapper, a gruesome house party and whole lot more. I won’t go into too much more detail but a Year 8 student would be able to fully update you.
Looking forward, next week see World Technology Day on Tuesday 12th May with the theme of Shrinking Plastic which promises much fun and excitement with House Points to be won. The race for House Points is increasingly tight with overall updates on current standings coming before the half-term break.
