GenevieveOur Year 13 students had their Celebration Day last Friday and they marked it in style. The costumes I saw as I stood at the gate in St George’s Road were a sight to behold and illustrated the humour and creativity of the year group – well done to all! They have been a brilliant year group who have coped admirably with the disruption of the past two years. We wish them well for their exams and look forward to the Leavers’ Ball at the end of June.

I wrote last week about our Year 10 students being on Work Experience and the feedback we have had about them has been fantastic. The process of Work Experience can be a little daunting but is so formative and they have created a great impression with a wide variety of employers within the local community and beyond. As our Year 11 students start their exams, we are starting to think about appointing prefects from our Year 10 group and I am confident that a great cohort are coming through.

In addition to public exams, we have had assessments for Years 7 and 9 this week and well done to all students for their immaculate conduct and hard work; Year 8 assessments take place next week with Year 9 assessments continuing.

It’s a busy time with exams and assessments but amongst this there are as ever trips and visits taking place and a multitude of extra-curricular activities including District Athletics and a lot of girls’ football matches, including finals.  Finally, very well done indeed to the Year 8 Quiz Team who won the annual Merchant Taylors’ Schools Quiz Competition against fierce competition – they did brilliantly and we are very proud of them.
